Antiwrinke Injections

It’s no revelation that often we don’t see ourselves objectively. We look in the mirror every day, and a
variety of things can bother us – big or small – but surprisingly, it’s often a minor line that can really get us
going.

Whether you’re after just a touch of anti-wrinkle to minimise the appearance of a frown line or you want a
higher dosage to erase the movement/line altogether. It’s a personal choice and it’s totally up to you,
because that one little line, we tend to fixate on it, and it becomes a bigger frustration as time goes by.

Botulinum toxin A (Azzalure) often referred to as ant-wrinkle or muscle relaxant injections is a
prescription only treatment. It works by temporarily blocking the nerve signals to the muscles. The
muscle becomes relaxed, in turn reducing the appearance of the lines and wrinkles. The dosage is
completely controlled by you and your experienced LCA Cosmetic Injector can recommend the dosage
required to achieve your goals.

Advantages of anti-wrinkle treatment

  • Non-invasive treatment
  • Long lasting results
  • Convenient
  • Affordable
  • Treatments are tailored to suit clients’ needs

Is there a difference between Muscle relaxant injections and Dermal Filler?

Muscle relaxants are used to treat wrinkles and lines caused by repeated muscle movement, such as
smile lines and forehead creases. They work by temporarily weakening the underlying muscles. Dermal
fillers are used to plump up the skin by adding volume. They may be used to fill in wrinkles caused by
sagging skin, to restore volume lost to the ageing process, or to enhance areas of the face such as the
lips and cheeks.

Is it painful?

The discomfort during this treatment is minimal. We use a very thin needle, and the injection process is
over in a matter of minutes. For very anxious clients a topical numbing cream can be applied if desired.

How long will the injecting take?

The injection process itself is over in just a few moments. You can expect to spend half an hour or less in
the clinic.

How long does it last?

This depends on the area treated, and the individual client. The results last between 3 -4 months
depending on the facial area treated, and your body’s ability to absorb the injected toxin. It can wear off
after as little as 8 weeks in some clients and it can last up to 6 months in others.

What facial areas can be treated with antiwrinkle injections?

The upper half of the face is most treated with antiwrinkle injections – around 95% of all aesthetic
treatments are administered here. Forehead lines, frown lines between the eyes and crow’s feet are the
most popularly treated areas to reduce the signs of ageing. They can be used in other areas such as the
chin, to reduced ‘gummy’ smiles and the armpits to reduce sweating, to name but a few.

What is the best time to start?

Many clients begin receiving injections of muscle relaxants as soon as they start seeing signs of
wrinkles. Others wait until their wrinkles are more substantial before seeking treatment. There is no
reason to delay seeking cosmetic injections. Many clients undergo decades of repeated treatments with

no ill effects. While most clients begin seeking treatment in their early 30s or 40s, it can be performed
safely on clients who are both younger and older. Some patients in their 20’s have injectable treatments
to prevent wrinkles and lines from forming.

Are there any side effects?

Most people find that the injections cause only mild local pain and tenderness. Immediately after the
injection there may be mild swelling at the injection site which usually subsides within 48 hours. Slight
bruising is also possible. Side effects of these treatments are extremely rare.

Will I still have expression in my face?

Botox treatments are designed to smooth dynamic wrinkles in the forehead and around eyes, they do not
affect your facial expression. The result can be tailored to each patient and can be discussed at the initial
free consultation.

Is the Treatment available for men and women?

Yes, muscle relaxant treatment works well on both men and women.

What should I do for after care?

  • Try to contract the treated muscle areas for up to four hours after treatment, by frowning and
lifting eyebrows to allow the toxin to reach all the treated muscle.
  • Avoid rubbing or touching the injected areas and avoid having facials and massage for 48 hours
this is to ensure that the treatment remains at the site of injection.
  • Avoid vigorous exercise and alcohol-based products on the area treated for 48 hours.
  • If bruising develops you can apply Arnica cream
  • Paracetamol can be taken for mild pain post procedure
