10 Things to Know Before Juvéderm Treatment

Here at Face Hub Facial Aesthetic, we want our patients to be completely satisfied with their treatment throughout the whole process. Here are 11 things to know before your Juvéderm treatment to ensure it is the correct decision for you.

  1. Juvéderm is not only for wrinkles

Juvéderm is known globally for treating wrinkles and fine lines but there are many other treatments in which it is used. It can be used for:

  • Lifting your cheeks
  • Tightening and smoothing saggy skin
  • Acne scars
  • Non-surgical nose reshaping
  • Plumping the lips
  • Slimming the face
  • Smoothing out the under eyes
  • Lifting and contouring eye brows
  • Certain medical conditions(lipodystrophy)

All of the above treatments are non-invasive temporary options for people who may be self-conscious about certain features on their face or the ageing process. Juvéderm can give a very naturally enhanced appearance to these features but not permanently so if a client is unhappy it can be changed unlike surgery.

  1. How to choose a provider.

There are a number of healthcare providers who can inject Juvéderm. Your consultation should be with a licensed and qualified practitioner. In many cases this can be a doctor, a dentist, a nurse or an aesthetician. Here at Face Hub, you will only have Juvéderm injections provided by a qualified and licensed practitioner. Juvéderm should never be bought and attempted at home as it can lead to complications if not done in a safe and professional setting. It is also illegal to provide filler injections without a qualification or license.

  1. Does Juvéderm hurt?

With any injection there is a chance that there will be minor pain and discomfort. Some of the Juvéderm products actually contain local anaesthetic which can numb the area. A dental block is also an option in some cases to prevent any pain. The most common pain relief used is a topical anaesthetic cream which is applied to the area about 15 minutes before the treatment to relieve pain.

  1. How to minimize bruising and swelling.

It is completely normal to have bruising and swelling after any Juvéderm treatment. It can last up to two weeks depending on the person but will then fade away. There are some ways to reduce the amount of bruising and swelling caused by treatment. Here are some tips to reduce swelling and bruising. Avoid aspirin, fish oils, alcohol, garlic, ginkgo, biloba and ginseng 10 days before your treatment. Take Arnica 1 week before your treatment and continue to take it after the procedure until bruising subsides. A high dose of Vitamin K intake after treatment is also a good way to reduce bruising.

  1. Small lumps and bumps are normal-and temporary.

It is completely normal to have little lumps in the area of treatment for the first week following the procedure. Here at Face Hub Facial Aesthetics, we usual ask patients to come back for an appointment two weeks after the treatment to assess the results. If there are still any lumps they can be massaged out or heat can be used to make them smooth.

  1. Expect some downtime.

Juvéderm is a minimally invasive treatment but in some cases a short recovery time might be expected. Due to bruising and swelling people may not want to be seen like this. If this is the case, we recommend having treatment done in a week where you don’t have many plans or are off work to let the swelling and bruising go down.

  1. How long to wait before getting another facial treatment.

If you are thinking of getting other facial treatment done such as a chemical peel or micro needling, it is recommended that you wait a week after your Juvéderm treatment to get anything else done as filler is still slightly malleable for a few days and putting pressure on it could cause it to move or change shape.

  1. Is Juvéderm safe?

Juvéderm is viewed as very safe. is held in high regard and used in treatments all around the world. It is FDA approved and has a positive proven record in safety. It is important that the product is used in a safe and professional environment by a licensed practitioner to ensure its safety. A consultation must be done before hand to ensure a patient is a good candidate for Juvéderm and if it is safe for them. Juvéderm also has a very high satisfaction rate.

  1. It is not permanent

The great thing about Juvéderm is that it is not permanent. So, if a patient is not satisfied with their results the filler will dissolve in the body after some time. It can also be easily dissolved with an injection hyaluronidase if a patient does not want to wait for it to break down. The fact that it is temporary is also a great option for people who want to change certain features but are unsure about it. Unlike surgery the results of Juvéderm are not permanent.

  1. How long will Juvéderm last?

It is not really possible to tell how long Juvéderm filler will last. This is because it depends on the patient’s body metabolism and how quick it will break down, how much is used, what type of filler is used and which area is being treated. Some areas where filler is injected last a lot longer than others. Juvéderm will usually last around 6 months to a year depending on the above factors.
